Allison Crowe: In The Bleak Midwinter

I love an old Christmas song and In The Bleak Midwinter fits the bill. The lyrics, a poem by Christina Rossetti, were published in 1872.

Allison Crowe has a couple of renditions of the song available (and they are all great) but check it out on her 2004 Tidings collection. That way, while you're there, you can listen to her wonderful cover of Joni Mitchell's River.

Check out In the Bleak Midwinter above or hear it, and a bunch of other cool Christmas songs from Newfoundland artists on the 2020 Newfoundland Christmas Playlist.
