Christmas Mixtapes
Is there a better way to show someone you like them (and I mean like-like them) than creating a mixtape? Maybe. I’m not sure. I’m old school that way. What I do know is that I have a deep love for music from Newfoundland & Labrador—it’s diverse, creative, and endlessly exciting.
I’m also a huge fan of the holiday season, especially the run-up to Christmas when I get to break out the Christmas music. There are so many wonderful seasonal songs, and part of the joy is rediscovering them each year. I’m partial to traditional Christmas carols and enjoy hearing modern takes on centuries-old songs. But every now and then, a fresh, new composition comes along and captures my holiday spirit completely. Newfoundland and Labrador’s musicians have been especially impressive in both arenas.
Here are a few of my Christmas favourites—some are timeless classics, others are original compositions, but all are performed by the talented artists of Newfoundland & Labrdor. They’re all amazing, and I can’t wait for you to hear them.
