Same Old Family by Far Away Light

I like a modern Christmas classic and, for me Far Away Light’s ‘Same Old Family’ has the makings of one. It was released in 2019 and it explores the idea that Christmas isn’t about a specific place, it’s about the people you spend it with.

Far Away Light is a project of St. John’s based musicians Evan AuCoin & Rowan Sherlock. They are a pretty prolific pair — their names are attached to a bunch of great local music ( hear Rugged Shores and Midnight Watch for starters).

More Christmas and Holiday Music from Newfoundland & Labrador

Stay tuned for more great Christmas songs from Newfoundland and Labrador.

I'm a big fan of traditional Christmas music, I love to hear a modern rendition of a 300 year old carol but, occasionally, a brand new song comes to my attention and dominates my Christmas listening. Newfoundland and Labrador's musicians have been holding their own in both regards. I’ll be sharing local songs —both old and new— from now until Christmas in my 2022 NL Music Advent Calendar.
