Borrowed Time by Quote the Raven
Looking for the perfect song to ease into 2025 with a touch of heart and hope? Newfoundland folk duo Quote the Raven has delivered just that with their latest release, ‘Borrowed Time’. This melodic, compelling reflection is a gentle nudge to pause and think about how we spend the fleeting days we’re given—a theme that feels especially poignant as the calendar turns.
In a Facebook post, the duo shared that the song is inspired by a personal story, “The song ‘Borrowed Time’ was written about my grandfather who passed away a couple of years ago now. He was probably one of our biggest supporters. When a lot of people his age would share their doubts about ‘making it’ in the music industry, he was 100% certain that you gotta try anyway, and that lives with me every day.”
And if you’re as smitten with ‘Borrowed Time’ as I am, there’s more to look forward to! The track is the second single from Quote the Raven’s upcoming record, set to release on April 23, 2025.
So go ahead—give ‘Borrowed Time’ a listen. It’s a beautifully crafted reminder to make the most of our borrowed time and a lovely way to start the year with a little reflection, a lot of heart, and some stellar Newfoundland & Labrador artistry.
I’m obsessed with music from Newfoundland and Labrador…
It’s fresh, wild, and full of surprises. The artists here are pumping out so much new stuff, it’s hard to keep up. So, I started a playlist of my faves—tons of genres, but the only rule is they’re local and totally repeat-worthy. I update it regularly, so follow along (on Spotify, Apple Music or Youtube).
Trust me, there’s a ton of good stuff coming your way.
