Carolina East’s Last Christmas

23 days until Christmas…

Last Christmas is an undisputed Christmas classic. First recorded by British duo Wham! in 1984, it has been played every Christmas ever since and not without reason - it’s a solid pop song. Bizarrely it didn’t manage to top the UK charts until January 2021 (setting a record for longest time between a song’s release and making it to the top of the chart).

It’s been covered a lot since it’s release and one of my favourite versions is by Newfoundland artist, Carolina East. Her rich voice meets the track head on, giving a pop performance with soulful depth.

Hear it on Carolina East’s 2018 Home for the Holidays album.

Newfoundland Christmas Music

Stay tuned for more great Newfoundland Christmas music.

I'm a big fan of traditional Christmas music, I love to hear a modern rendition of a 300 year old carol but, occasionally, a brand new song comes to my attention and dominates my Christmas listening.

Newfoundland's musicians have been holding their own in both regards. I’ll be sharing a song a day from now until Christmas in a NFLD Music Advent Calendar.

When the dogs are napping Robert takes photos, writes about Newfoundland, and makes a podcast.
