Ian Foster: Nerve

If you haven’t heard Ian Foster’s debut classical crossover album Nerve, you’re missing out. It’s an evocative blend of piano, string and electronic instruments that create a beautiful soundscape. Foster describes it as “film music meets composition.”

Ian Foster Nerve

Ian Foster’s Nerve, cover art.

While I generally think, its a bad idea to judge a book (or album) by its cover, I think the artwork of Nerve pairs beautifully with the music. The cover is sparse, balanced and interesting — it’s full of shapes that invite the viewer to interpret and re-interpret them. The music is does the same; the mood seems to subtly shift with each replay.

Check it out now wherever you get your music.
