Andrew Pike: Snow Gathers By My Door

Andrew Pike’s ‘Snow Gathers by My Door’ is the kind of Christmas song I like — it’s got a laid back sort of cool vibe that contrasts wonderfully with the over-the-top, red and green sparkly songs that seem to push their way to the forefront this time of year.

Thematically, Pike seems to hint at the monotony of winter, the joy of staying at home and the dubious importance of holiday obligations.

The lyrics are pretty straightforward but, the more I listen, the more questions I have.

I feel there’s a story just under the surface… like Pike’s created an interesting framework, and I’m free to fill-in my own details.

The track appeared on Pike’s 2020 album Oscillations, Pt 2. You can check it out (and fill in your own details) wherever you stream music.

More Christmas and Holiday Music from Newfoundland & Labrador

Stay tuned for more great Christmas songs from Newfoundland and Labrador.

I'm a big fan of traditional Christmas music, I love to hear a modern rendition of a 300 year old carol but, occasionally, a brand new song comes to my attention and dominates my Christmas listening. Newfoundland and Labrador's musicians have been holding their own in both regards. I’ll be sharing local songs —both old and new— from now until Christmas in my 2023 NL Music Advent Calendar.
