BRDGS: Merry Christmas (I Still Love You)
I’m a fan of BRDGS. Over the years the former Steady Brook resident has been crafted a collection of compelling pop — first as half of the duo Everglow and now as a solo artist.
On his 2022 holiday ep A Very BRDGS CHRSTMS Vol. 1 he continues to deliver polished pop.
It’s not exactly all happy though. Merry Christmas (I Still Love You) is a bit of a sad song. It paints the picture of someone who, after a break-up, is alone on the holidays. It contrasts the sights and sounds of a happy Christmas with the loneliness the singer feels.

More Christmas and Holiday Music from Newfoundland & Labrador
Stay tuned for more great Christmas songs from Newfoundland and Labrador.
I'm a big fan of traditional Christmas music, I love to hear a modern rendition of a 300 year old carol but, occasionally, a brand new song comes to my attention and dominates my Christmas listening. Newfoundland and Labrador's musicians have been holding their own in both regards. I’ll be sharing local songs —both old and new— from now until Christmas in my 2023 NL Music Advent Calendar.

The mysterious and mostly unknown history of Newfoundland’s 13th day of Christmas — Tibb’s Eve.
There’s more to February 2nd than groundhogs and weather lore. People of Newfoundland have celebrated Candlemas for generations and have lots of interesting customs that have nothing to do with looking for shadows.

Not every mummer story has a happy ending. In 1860 a group of mummers killed a man in Bay Roberts , NL — that was only one incident in a string of violent behaviour.
Robert grew up in a tiny Newfoundland community called Happy Adventure. These days he lives in Gander, NL and his happiest adventures are spent with his two Labrador retrievers exploring the island while listening to a soundtrack of local music.
When the dogs are napping Robert takes photos, writes about Newfoundland, and makes a podcast.
