La Veille Du Réveillon by Port-Aux-Poutines

It’s Tibb’s Eve. I think I’ve given the pseudo-holiday more attention this year than ever.

I’ve written a new post, recorded a podcast episode (and chatted with The Duds about it) and even asked Carolina East how she planned to spend the day in another episode.

I once discussed with a friend the lack of Tibb’s Eve songs. At the time we could only come up with one (by Newspaper Fashion Show). In the years since, The Duds expanded the canon with their track Before The Night (Tibb’s Eve). Now, this year, Port-aux-Poutine have given us another.

La Veille Du Réveillon references Tibb’s Eve and explores the custom in a rollicking French-language holiday song.

More Christmas and Holiday Music from Newfoundland & Labrador

Stay tuned for more great Christmas songs from Newfoundland and Labrador.

I'm a big fan of traditional Christmas music, I love to hear a modern rendition of a 300 year old carol but, occasionally, a brand new song comes to my attention and dominates my Christmas listening. Newfoundland and Labrador's musicians have been holding their own in both regards. I’ll be sharing local songs —both old and new— from now until Christmas in my 2023 NL Music Advent Calendar.
