Adam Staple: SuperAntiHero

Adam Staple has earned a solid reputation as a drummer/percussionist in the Newfoundland music scene. He’s taken that experience and used to craft  SuperAntiHero — his solo debut.

Given Staple’s history, it’s not surprising to find beats at the forefront of a lot of the songs but they are supported with thoughtful and relatable lyrics — it’s easy to find pieces of yourself in his stories.

More than being just relatable they are entertaining. Want evidence? Check out title track ‘SuperAntiHero’ and ‘The World’s Most Wanted Man’.

While clearly not his lyrics, Staple’s cover of RadioHead’s ‘Packt Like Sardines In a Crushed Tin Box’ is worth hearing. His interpretation fits comfortably within the soundscape he’s built on the album but completely honours the original song. I’m a fan.

Check it out.
