Agent Steele by Sock It To Me Zombie!

Update: Agent Steele, and the album formerly known as Orgy At Madame Dracula’s, no longer seems to be available on most music services. It has been replaced with the 13-minute track ‘The Adventures of Brett Steele.

I’ve discovered that I enjoy a good concept album — a collection of tracks that sort of hang together to paint a bigger picture.

I think it’s fair to call Orgy At Madame Dracula’s by Sock It To Me Zombie! a concept album. It’s inspired by an F W Paul pulp novel of the same name. The novel — which I haven’t read, but someday might — is part of a series about Agent Brett Steele: the man from STUD. Steele apparently specializes in erotic missions with erotic angles.

As you might imagine, the album is funny. It is also clever, well-produced, and comes with a helping of 60s-esque surf rock vibes.

It’s cool and I like it.

Recorded as part of this year’s RPM Challenge, the album is a sequel of sorts. Last year the group released an eponymous RPM album. The title/band name being the name of the first book in the S.T.U.D. series.

While I think it’s worth listening to the whole album, stand out tracks include ‘Agent Steele’ and the title track, ‘Orgy at Madame Dracula’s.’

Get it on Bandcamp and other streaming services too.
