Brad Tuck: The Red Violin

“Where does the time go?”, asks Brad Tuck in his new song The Red Violin. Truthfully, it hardly matters. Tuck has a knack for making timeless music. Look no further than his 2019 album The Rocky Isle for evidence. His version of The Creggan White Hare is my absolute favourite. And if you want further proof, his cover of Simani’s Loss of the Marion (from 2018’s On These Waters) might make you forget the original.

Tuck’s recordings feel contemporary while offering a sound that would feel at home in almost any decade. Think classic.

In that regard, The Red Violin does not disappoint. With a great melody, and thoughtful lyrics (that people will sing along to), it’s another case of contemporary meeting classic. It will be taking up residence in my playlists for the foreseeable future.

When you’re done exploring Tuck’s solo catalogue, venture onward and hear his work (drumming) with Fairgale and Shanneyganock.

Check it out.
